Visibility score: verified visibility a product holds
A product's visibility score is how much of the available verified directory visibility it has captured: the ratings of the directories that list it, measured against the strongest directories in the index. It is a share of what is attainable, not an average of what was achieved.
How it is computed
Each measured directory carries a rating built from its indexation rate, link value, reachability and corpus size (the weights are on the methodology page). A product's score compares the summed ratings of the rated directories that list it against the summed ratings of the twenty highest-rated directories in the index, capped at 100. Listings on directories we have not rated add nothing until those directories are measured.
When the score is withheld
A score appears once a product holds live listings on at least 3 rated directories. Below that, the number would restate one directory's rating rather than measure the product, so the page says "not rated" instead. That floor is checked when the page is read, not only when the score was last computed, so a product that falls below it stops publishing a score rather than keeping the last one.
Zero is a different answer from "not rated". A product whose listings we watched disappear, leaving none live, scores zero: we saw presence and then loss, and that is measured. A product we merely discovered, with no listing ever observed, stays "not rated".
Votes and comments are kept apart
Signed-in visitors can upvote and comment on products and on directories, and the leaderboard carries a votes view built from those upvotes. Both are opinion. Neither feeds the visibility score, a directory's rating, the default order of any table, or any other published number, and the measured ranking stays the leaderboard's default view. A test in the suite fails the build if a scoring or sorting query so much as mentions the vote and comment tables.
Where to see it: the leaderboard ranks products by visibility score, and each product's page in the product index shows its own.
